Did you get amaze seeing Victoria Beckham or Beyonce‘s engagement jewels and thought these are iconic, you’d be surprised to see the world’s second largest diamond.
Vancouver-based Lucara Diamonds are famous for offering high quality diamonds from Botswana. In recent times, the company recovered a 1,111 carat gem quality- type IIa diamond. The splendid stone is in the tennis ball size and was extracted from south lobe of Lucara’s Karowe Mine. It is the world’s 2nd largest diamond & also the biggest ever to be recovered through a new processing facility. The diamond was recovered with the newly installed large Diamond Recovery XRT machines. It is 65mm–56mm–40mm in size.
The diamond is estimated at approx. INR 400 crores and we’re not able to wait- which regal crown or imposing jewels it will prettify.
The 3,106-carat Cullinan diamond was found in 1905 in South Africa and cut into 9 separate stones, many of which are in the British Crown Jewels.
According to William Lamb, the CEO of Lucara Diamond, a Canadian diamond producer, said, “The importance of the recovery of a gem quality stone larger than 1,000 carats, the largest for more than a century… cannot be overstated,”
Lucara says two other brilliant white diamonds – an 813-carat stone and a 374-carat stone – were also found at the Karowe mine.
The gem had taken more than a year for cutting, polishing and perfection.
Botswana is the world’s largest producer of diamonds and the trade has changed it into a middle-income nation.
