Major Weekly Drop In Gold Rates Since March 2009
After the high rise of the gold, there was yet hope for its fall and on Friday, the gold rate slipped more than 1 percent heading for its major weekly drop since March 2009. This is because of the gain in the stock markets and the rise in Euro after major central banks around the world strived to fight the debt crises in Europe.
Timothy Geithner, the treasure secretary of US will be discussing with the European Finance ministers about the possibility of leveraging the euro zone’s rescue fund as the world’s main central banks aim to ease dollar funding for stricken banks.
Gold fell from $21.84 an ounce to $1,766.80 by 0327 GMT after falling 2 percent in previous session. The record struck by Bullion was around $1,920 in the previous week on concerns the euro debt crisis could stall global growth.
Tom Pawlicki, the energy analyst at MF Global said, “We favour maintaining our negative trading affair bias in today’s trade.”
He further added, “Additional pressure will come from low expectations for Quantitative Easing at next week’s FOMC meeting, and from technical factors which argue for a move down to $1,700-$1,750 an ounce in our opinion.”
US gold futures also fell from $8.8 ounce to $1,772.60 and the investors looked to next week’s meeting of the Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) on Read the rest of this entry…

Hike in Gold Rates Distances Gold from Diamond Jewellery
Hike in gold rates has now turned to be a regular phenomenon, which seems to be not in a mood to change track. The way the prices are increasing day by day, one just can’t imagine what it would cost to get your desired jewellery in gold. Even though the prices are reaching sky, there is no decline in the demand. People still want gold to shimmer and add the extra tinge of shine in all their desired and valuable accessories.
Even if we leave aside pure gold jewellery, the shiny metal even forms the base for many of the diamond jewellery. This need from the end of the users has led the jewellery makers to adopt new ways wherein they can minimize the use of gold in diamond jewellery and can still maintain the look and excellence of the ornaments. In order to achieve the set goal many have increased the mechanization and have reduced the making of hand-made jewellery while on the other hand many have even started replacing the gold’s weight with that of diamond. This way they are trying to keep the investor’s interest unhindered. Facts state that gold content in jewellery should ideally be 35 percent in terms of its weight. However, the risen prices have now forced the makers to bring the figure down to a massive extent.
Now if we talk of South India, where gold jewellery rules the charts, the makers have cut the use of gold to 12 percent, while in the west and east it is 15 percent Read the rest of this entry…
